Looking To The Future

I have been working in the retail environment for about a decade now and I can confidently say that I am more than excited to leave that behind me. While I have made many friends along the way with some awesome people, it is not what I want to be doing with my life. My goal is ultimately to become a solid programmer and either land a good job with a good company, or become a freelancer who can make enough to supprot my family and be comfortable (with the biggest dream of all to become a successful game developer). I started on this road many years ago, but abondoned it for a variety of reasons, but am now pursuing it more vigorously than ever.

I have a game in the early stages of development now (very early), that I am rather excited about, as well as a potential long-term job - though that one is far from a sure thing as there are many moving parts involved from the sounds of it. I am always looking to find creative outlets and new ways to challenge myself to be better, and I do believe I can become an excellent programmer.

The reason I want to pursue game development is that games helped me out immensely in my youth to excape. They let me explore different worlds and challenge myself to beat them. And while I have never released a game before, I have made several somewhat finished games that were never to be seen again. So I will have a long term goal of mine be to release a full game that is well regarded among my peers and something that I am happy to release to the public. Until then, I will stay hard at work.
